The day Jay and I first started talking about marriage, I was practically planning the wedding.
Being in hair school with lots of young girls in similar stages of life, I had a lot of friends eager to help.
We started by going dress shopping just to get an idea for what I wanted.
Aly, Lindsay, and Catelin came along with me to a dress shop in the Provo Riverwoods.
These dresses were wayyy out of my price range but like I said, this was just for fun. And goodness was it fun!
Tiffany even let me try on her dress.
After a second trip of trying on dresses and realizing how expensive they are, I considered getting one made.
My sister Jess had her beautiful wedding dress made and it was totally affordable!
Through a mutual friend I found a seamstress named Jenny, who lives in Salem, Utah.
I made an appointment and then sought out for inspiration through magazines and the internet.
My talented friend Claire, helped me put my ideas together but creating this sketch.
I took the sketch to Jenny. We discussed some details such as the buttons, the fabric, and ended up taking away the flowers.
I first went to Jenny at the end of January and she had the dress done by the end of March.
In that time, I went back for a total of 3 dress fittings. AND the total cost ended up being around $400.
I couldn't have been more pleased with the way my dress turned out.
It was exactly what I wanted, fit me perfectly, and the best part- it was totally original.
