Deer Creek

This summer I was feeling a little… jipped. From May to August it was school then straight to work every day. Finishing school was such a relief! All I had to worry about was work and then maybe I would have more free time. I usually work until 5 pm, which allows me to have the evenings off, but what about the fun summer activities like laying out, going swimming, or hiking? I’ve been spoiled throughout my life when it comes to summer. Growing up near the coast, going to the beach was a weekly activity and there were late summer nights of bon fires and going to the bay to watch the Sea World fireworks. This was my first summer of not really getting a tan. And, instead of enjoying the heat by a pool or the ocean, I would sweat bullets in my car going to work, and then slaving away at work.

It came to a point where I wasn’t going to let it bother me. I look forward to the day where I get a little bit of my summer back. (Crossing my fingers that day will come.) As for now, I enjoy my simple life of going to work then coming home to quality time with my love. And I’m constantly reminding myself that although my skin is a bit pasty, it has never been healthier.

I was thrilled when Jay told me we were going Kayaking up in the Provo Canyon! This was the kind of summer fun I had been yearning for. We drove to a little place called Deer Creek Island. The weather was nothing short of perfect and we practically had the lake to ourselves. We enjoyed the Kayak for an hour and then took pictures. Later that evening we drove down to a park at the bottom of the canyon where we met our good friend Andrew and his friend Annie for some cobbler.
