Mouse Goes to the Vet & Valentines Day 2012

Friday: Day in the Life Event- Jay's chances of getting in the MBA program are looking good, just anxiously waiting for an email confirmation.
Saturday: Mouse is limping and extremely lethargic- we are a little worried.
Sunday: Mouse isn't doing any better. Rachel's computer gets a virus and the computer dies. Luckily she did not lose everything but now her and Jay are fighting over Jay's computer.
Monday: Mouse goes to the vet. Shes got a high fever- vet gives her medicine and some home remedies.
Tuesday(Valentines Day): No improvement from Mousey. We call the vet, they say to bring her in for a hospital stay. Later the vet calls to tell us things are not looking good and she will need to be there for at least two days, then gives us an estimated cost of 450-650 dollars for her stay. Rachel has a breakdown. Meanwhile at work, Jay is hitting the refresh button on his email every minute.
We celebrated Valentines with a steak, ribs and crab dinner and a movie at Rhett and Tracey's. It was a laid back evening, just what we needed.

Card and bouquet of roses from my valentine.
I gave him a jar of Reeses (his favorite) with 35 reasons why I love him.
Wednesday: Mouse still has a fever and needs to stay on an IV for at least another night. The vet never told us for sure what was wrong. All she really said was that Mouse has a really bad infection and its taking her body awhile to fight it off. After work I go and pay her a little visit.
It was heart-wrenching.
Thursday: Jay is still hitting 'refresh'. Mouse's fever has dropped but she shows no interest in food and the vet wants to keep her ANOTHER night.
Friday: A much needed day off of work, I take my stress out on cleaning- our place never looked so good. At 2:00 I call the vet for an update. Mouse is not 100 percent but she can come home! At 4:00 I get a call from Jay, the email came HE GOT IN! We celebrate the night by bringing Mouse home and eating homemade pizza.
Mouse was not getting better throughout the weekend- she still had a fever, extremely lethargic and absolute no interest in food.

By Wednesday of the next week, I took her in for a re-check at the same place but with a different vet.
The first vet said Mouse had an infection. But the second vet, Dr. Berry was convinced that her immune system was down.
He gave her a shot of steroids then sent us home with steroid pills to give to Mouse once a day.
Dr. Berry said that if he was right and the steroids work, we should see a change in her behavior very quickly.
By that night she was eating and had more energy!
We were frustrated after spending hundreds of dollars all because of the previous vet's wrong assumption.

What a week! We are just glad to see Mouse doing better, and we are SO ecstatic about getting into BYU!
