Jay and I made a bucket list to help us embrace our last few months in Utah.
Our list consists of restaurants, hiking trails, recreating memories from dating, and other random activities.
The Tamale Lady has been in Provo for as long as I can remember.
She parks her wagon full of tamales in different parts of town, even in the cold winter months.
A few months ago we noticed her parked in our neighborhood. So I added her to the list!
Almost every morning when I took Jay to school, we would see her all set up with her wagon and cooler.
Sometimes she was there as early 8:00 in the morning!
But when we were in the mood for a tamale she was never there. Quite frustrating.
Today Jay came home and told me the tamale lady was parked and open for business.
On our way home from some errands, we made a stop to finally meet the sweet tamale lady!
I was looking forward to getting to know her story.
But the only info I got was that she was from Mexico and didn't speak any English.
I mentioned Puerto Vallarta and Cabo, [ha, that's the extent of my spanish]
and she smiled with wide eyes as she said "si, si!!"
She was so genuinely grateful for our business.
And we were genuinely grateful for her time spent making those tamales- they were delicious!
