On Friday Jay and I arrived in St. George for Grandma Jensen's funeral.
We visited with Rich, his siblings, and a few other family members.
Rich, Renee, Marin, Jay, and I went out for a lovely evening.
We explored the Dixie rock at Pioneer Park, got Thai food at Benja's, then went to Nielson's for frozen custard.
Virginia Lee Jensen
July 23, 1925 - January 22, 2014
When Jay's grandpa died in September 2011, it was heartbreaking for everyone, but it was especially heartbreaking for Grandma Jensen.
They had been together for 64 years. Life without Wilbur was sad and lonely.
Jay and I would stop in St. George to visit her on our way down to California.
During those visits she would often break down into tears because she felt so lonely and longed to be with her sweetheart again.
Time was running it's course and grandma's body was slowing down.
On January 22nd, she passed away in her home, surrounded by her children.
Hearing of her death was so sad. Mostly sad for those she left behind- her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
But oh how happy we all are for her! She is no longer in physical or emotional pain.
The thought of her reuniting with Wilbur, both of them in their prime, is such a beautiful thought.
Virginia was selfless. She was an amazing mother and an incredibly faithful and devoted wife.
Wilbur was often very busy serving in high church callings, but Virginia was patient and supportive.
In her Eulogy, Rich spoke of how she was the perfect example of "enduring to the end"...
She took the sacrament that was brought to her home when she was too sick to go to church.
Every night she sat on her bed and said her prayers. When she finished, she called for someone to help her into bed.
She was accepting and loving of everyone and anyone.
She was witty and always smiling.
She lived such a full life, one that serves as a great example to many.
I personally am so grateful to have been touched by her sweet example.
