Just after moving to Provo in 2009, Jay and I met at ward prayer.
He informed me that in an effort to save money and get better grades, he wasn't going to allow himself to date until the semester was over.
I bluntly told him it was the stupidest thing I had ever heard, his future wife is going to come along and he was going to miss her all because of a stupid rule. [Little did I know.]
Our friendship grew and so did our feelings for one another.
One day he said he would make an exception to his rule. He then asked me on a date and I said YES.
Later he told me it was his roommate Andrew that gave him the push. Andrew said, "If you don't take Rachel out then I will!"
On February 21, 2009 Jay and I attended the Draper Temple open house along with our friends and their dates.
Afterwards we ate at Johnny Carino's, then went to Jason's house and played the Wii.
Five years later, on February 21, 2014 we did sealings at the Draper Utah Temple, then ate at Johnny Carino's.
It was a lovely day of laughs and love as we reminisced about our first date and the dating life.
Our first one was unforgettable. But it's all of the dates since then that I cherish the most. And all of the future dates.
So lucky to have this man by my side forever.
