Michigan [& Hotel] Bound

Friday night was a long and sleepless one. I never sleep well right before traveling anyways, but to make matters worse, the alarm clock in our hotel room was mysteriously set to 3:00 am. (We joked that we must have done something to upset the maid. It's still such a mystery!) After Jay turned off the awful buzzing alarm, it was hard to go back to sleep knowing we only had an hour and a half til our phone alarms went off at 4:30. We rolled out of bed, ate breakfast then got dressed and waited for our ride. We are very grateful to Nate for driving us to the airport on his way to work!
Goodbye to the rockies.

 Detriot, Michigan Airport
After an hour layover, we boarded our plane to Kalamazoo. The plane drove over to the runaway, then sped up as it normally does before taking off. Just before actually taking off, the plane slowed down and pulled over to the side of the runaway. Apparently the pilot blew some kind of fuse and told us to standby for further instructions. After about thirty minutes, the pilot returned the plane to the gate where we got off, then had to wait at a different gate for a different plane. Finally we were in the sky and flew safely to Kalamazoo. It really wasn't too bad of an inconvenience, our only complaint was being SO tired from our sleepless night and long day of traveling. And it's just so typical for that flight. Jay has done that flight quite a few times and has never NOT had some kind of delay. But we are glad the fuse blew when it did. I imagine if we were in the air when it happened, things would have literally gone south.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Kalamazoo
The idea of being in another hotel for two weeks didn't sound too appealing until we entered our room at the Marriott. Luckily it has felt more like an apartment than a hotel room.
Thanks to our tiny kitchen, we've been able to eat a lot of home cooked meals rather than eating out every night. But we have treated ourselves a few times to Pizza as well as a few local restaurants.
We can't really complain about our time in Michigan/the hotel so far. We've slept in, stayed up late, watched our Netflix shows, went to the movies, laid out in the sun, read books, worked out, had s'mores and played games with the Bennett's, drove around gorgeous neighborhoods and gawked at the homes, bought a puppy, AND found a house to rent. Not a bad deal.
