Garth and Kiery generously let us hitch a ride with them to the Detroit temple today.
A two hour drive there, a two hour endowment session, a one hour lunch at a Thai restaurant in Birmingham, and a two hour drive home. It was an all day ordeal. Much different from what we were used to living in Provo, Utah surrounded by at least six temples within a 40 mile radius.
Living two hours away from the nearest temple feels so far, but I know we will adjust. And really, trading a Saturday in exchange for the peace and many other blessings that come from attending the temple is well worth it. We are grateful to our good friends for putting up with us for a whole day. And even more grateful for the opportunity to serve in the Detroit temple.
[Interesting fact: The layout of the Detroit temple is identical to the layout of the Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee temples. We were experiencing crazy déjà vu.]

That temple looks so pretty and reminds me of the Monticello, Utah temple!
