Baby Jensen | Gender Reveal

The anticipation we felt leading up to this appointment was intense. Like a trillion times more intense than Christmas. In fact, I had been referring to our gender reveal date as "Christmas." We don't have a gender preference at all whatsoever, we were just dying to know more about our little one!
We toyed back and forth with the idea of doing a creative gender reveal verses finding out at the doctor's office. The biggest problem I had when planning a creative gender reveal was coming up with something that was original and, more importantly, something that could be kept intimate. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of someone else knowing the gender before us.
After stewing and stewing, an idea came to mind about two months ago, and from then on evolved into what we thought would be the perfect gender reveal.

A couple of days before our doctor's appointment I prepared pink and blue confetti, set it aside along with a large mailing envelope, then waited anxiously for Monday.
Today we went in for our 20 week doctor's appointment. Before we got started with the ultrasound we told the tech our plan for the gender reveal and asked if she would assist us. She happily agreed then carried on with the ultrasound. The tech took measurements and pictures of baby and all it's bones and organs. Baby was in a breech position making it hard for the tech to get some of the measurements she needed as well as to see the gender. After flipping on my side for a few minutes baby decided to cooperate which allowed the tech to get the measurements she needed and get a clear picture of the gender. But of course for this part we looked away [not that I would even know what I'd be looking at- those sonograms are hard to read].
Once the tech finished the ultrasound, she asked Jay and I to step out of the room so she could fill our envelope with the right color of confetti. A couple of minutes later she handed us the envelope, I stuffed it in my purse, then we were off to see the doctor. We received the good news that all was well and our baby is growing right on schedule!

I loved every second of this appointment. To see AND feel baby move during the ultrasound was so incredible. And to get reassurance from our doctor that baby is healthy, strong, and growing properly is such a blessing.

The 30 minute drive home went surprisingly quick. Jay and I were both just so giddy about being moments away from knowing the gender of our baby- we couldn't stop talking and smiling and laughing.

Once the camera was all set up we had a few practice runs, then did the big reveal...

Through this pregnancy I have constantly had dreams that our little one was a girl. Then a few nights ago I had a dream it was a boy. And for whatever reason, during our doctor's visit and right before we tossed the confetti I thought, oh for sure it's a boy. I don't know why I felt that way, but I'm kind of glad I did. It made for an incredible surprise!

IT'S A GIRL! I still can't get over it. We're so thrilled. We love this little lady such an insane amount already!
