Jay and I had been dying take a trip to Chicago ever since we moved to Michigan but waited for
an opportunity to go with our family. Since we will be
moving soon, it seemed that Jerris' visit was our last opportunity. Prior to Jerris' arrival, Jay
booked a hotel then printed off the information, put it in a box, and
wrapped it for Jerris to open Christmas morning. Needless to say she was ecstatic! We spent Christmas afternoon planning out our trip, then left for Chicago first thing the next morning.
Lou Malnati's Pizzera
I'm not really one for deep dish pizza, but our Chicago experience would be incomplete without at least giving it a try. Evelyn couldn't keep her hands off the pizza. And I thought the pizza was pretty good but not nearly as delish as the bruschetta.
We hoped to go up to the Skydeck and get a good view of the city but visibility was zero percent, as you can see.
Jay kept Evelyn warm and toasty while trekking through the
cold, rainy, windy city. By the end of the day we figure we walked about five miles. Evelyn was awake and perfectly content the whole day.
On Saturday night we stayed in a hotel in Northbrook. The room which we shared with Jerris had two queen size beds (Supposedly. I'm pretty certain they were full size beds). This was Evelyn's first stay in a hotel and I think she was awake about every hour. Around 3:00am I gave up on the pack n' play and brought her into our bed. Three people in one full size bed... It was a very long night.
In the morning she made up for it with her sweetness, as she always does. Then we got back on the road, stopping at the temple on our way home.
