Evelyn | Nine Months

-Height: 27 inches / 29th percentile
-Weight: 18 pounds 11 ounces / 46th percentile
-Wears size 4 in diapers.
-Wears size 9-12 months in clothes.
-Not actively crawling but she'll do it if she wants to get to something bad enough. She's pretty good at getting herself around by rolling and scooting. She army crawled one time in church, then didn't do it again for a few weeks. One time we successfully used the TV remote to lure her over to us. We do what we can to encourage her but ultimately we know she'll get it when she's ready.
-Bonking her head has become a much too frequent occurance, probably because she's getting more mobile. It doesn't help that we basically have all hard wood floors (the basement technically has carpet but it is not soft at all) so any slip when she's attempting to crawl makes for a big bonk.
-Very vocal, and very loud. Her favorite noise is "da-da".
-Interacts well with strangers when we're out of the house, but when someone comes to the house she freaks out and gets super clingy. Selfishly, I don't mind when she's really clingy and snugly.
-Such a good eater. She will eat just about anything we put in front on her. The only thing she didn't care for was some quinoa from a Mexican casserole which may have been too spicy. She's a fast eater and is really greedy about her food- when I'm cutting something up for her it seems I can't ever cut fast enough then she gets severely impatient.
-Still breastfeeds about every 3-4 hours, but her feedings have become very short since she's filling up mostly on solid foods. Breastfeeding is something I don't ever want to give up! But of course I will wean her at some point, hopefully no sooner than her first birthday.
-Takes anywhere from 1-3 naps a day. Nap time has gotten a little more difficult now that she can pull herself up in the crib. Sometimes I think she's asleep then I check on her after 15 minutes and she's just quietly playing in her crib. So naughty but so cute. Sometimes she goes right to sleep, and sometimes she fights it. I don't get too discouraged when she fights a nap because for the most part she's happy to be awake. And usually if she's been up for a long time in the early evening, she sleeps a good stretch for the first part of the night.
Nighttime sleep is very hit and miss. Sometimes she sleeps so great and I only have to get up with her once, then sometimes I'm up so many times with her I lose count. There's no rhyme or reason to it, so we just give thanks after a good night, and after a rough night hope the next night will be a good night!
-Holds a bottle and sippy cup by herself.
-Can drink from a straw.
-Is the happiest in the mornings.
-LOVES daddy. She doesn't seem to have a preference over me or Jay, but she lights up when he comes home from work.
-Loves watching us play with Kella. Nobody can make her laugh quite like Kella can.
-Likes being in her car seat but gets so excited when we go to take her out. She kicks her legs, shakes her hands and squeals as we unbuckle her.
-Loves being out of the house.
-Loves her jumper.
-Loves to watch Baby Einstein videos.
-Loves being read to.
-Not too hard to please or entertain. She will entertain herself for long periods of time with the same toys she's had all her life.
-Nicknames: Peanut, Gorgeous, Love, Baby Evelyn, Eleven, Leven.

We've converted over to sink baths. She fits perfectly in our kitchen sink and I want to take advantage of that for as long as possible. Also, it's so much easier to bathe her while I'm standing rather then wrenching my back bending over the bathtub.

The first time she sat up in her crib. I went to get her after a nap and was startled to see a fuzzy blonde head poking out.

Winter, we're ready for you!

Morning photos for daddy.

Furniture shopping with dad.

Jay was pretty confident he would be getting the job he applied for in Ohio. He was a little down on the day he learned it wasn't going to work out. Evelyn was especially sweet and snugly that night. It was like she knew daddy needed some extra love.

Such a patient little love tagging along on hours of Christmas shopping. She is sweeter than all the candy in the world.

Ward Christmas party- December 5th

Nine month doctor's visit.

The nurse had to draw blood from her finger and needless to say it was a pretty traumatic experience. Evelyn wouldn't keep her bandaged finger out of her mouth- she sucked the band-aid right off, blood started dripping everywhere, then I had to keep her pinned down while the nurse wrapped her finger back up. Then I came up with a solution to keep her from ripping the band-aid off again (photo below). She looked like a little amputee. When we got home she took a record-breaking three hour nap, and woke up as happy and cute as ever.
