During memorial day weekend Jay had two days off of work making for a nice long four day weekend. It wasn't until Monday (Memorial Day) that it occurred to me that we totally could have made a trip home! I guess I'm still not used to being so close to home and having a quick weekend getaway as an option. So as Independence Day was approaching, Jay informed me that he would once again have a four day weekend. Immediately I suggested we make a trip home!
We left first thing Friday morning and got to stay until Tuesday, which gave us time with all three sets of family.
First stop: San Diego.
Little Brookie was baptized on Saturday. It was such a lovely baptism where I felt the spirit so strongly. Brooklyn is the silliest girl you'll ever meet, with the most kind and loving heart. There is a special place in my heart for each of my nieces and nephew and I'm just so grateful to have been a part of Brooklyn's special day.
After the baptism everyone headed to Olive Garden for lunch, then Steph and I went over to the Parks' to see them off on their big RV excursion later that afternoon. That night my mom and Steph came along to dinner in Carlsbad where we met up with Mike, Kari, and Jerris at PF Changs.
On Sunday we drove up to Corona where we spent the rest of our stay.
The fourth was very laid back for us this year. We had the option to go to the city's Independence Day festival and watch fireworks, but then Renee threw out the option of doing a small BBQ at their place then watching a movie. Because Jay and I were feeling a little apprehensive as to how Evelyn would feel not only about fireworks, but being up til almost 10:00pm (she typically goes to bed at 7:00pm), we decided to settle on a night in with Rich and Renee. Marin, Natllely, and her three kids joined the party and it was great time!
