Baby Jensen Number Two | 16 Weeks
Trimester: Second.
Baby: Size of an avocado. Bones are hardening and the tiny legs and arms are now completely formed. Baby is capable of making expressive frowns and squints. Even though baby's eyes are still closed, they are making little movements and even have the ability to sense changes in light through the eyelids.
Movement: A few flutters here and there. Still not 100% sure it's baby and not gas or something else, but I'm hoping it's baby! I was 16 weeks the first time I felt Evelyn fluttering around in my belly.
Symptoms: Headaches, gassy, emotional, raging appetite, mild nausea, round ligament pain, sensitive breasts, sciatica, and braxton hicks contractions?
Cravings: Meat, soda, junk food. As with my first pregnancy, vegetables are just THE worst, but luckily fruit almost always hits the spot. Some of my go-to snacks: pretzels, popsicles, strawberries, raspberries, apples, yogurt, fruit leather, and granola. I've found the key to beating the nausea is keeping my stomach full by eating small snacks frequently.
Sleep: Great! Evelyn is sleeping SO much better at night, I'm finally feeling well rested in the mornings.
Exercise: Swimming, and walking whenever it's not too hot, which isn't very often. I don't do as much regular structured exercise anymore, but I feel living in a two story house keeping up with daily chores and chasing after a toddler all day counts as pretty good exercise.
Stretch marks: None.
Total weight gain: 6 pounds.
Swelling: None.
Maternity Clothes: Nope.
Belly Button: In.
Doctor's Visit: Scheduled for the 22nd.
What I'm Looking Forward to: Each new week. Even though I've done this before, I love being able to check my app every Monday and read about all the new things happening inside my body. Also looking forward to our next ultrasound/anatomy scan and gender reveal in just one month!
Best Moment of the Month: Getting a Costco hot dog. Meat has been at the top of my 'cravings' list. Last week I was struggling around lunch and dinner time with figuring out meals that sounded AND tasted good. On Sunday I had a strong craving for a hot dog, but held out until Thursday. Oh my goodness never has a hot dog tasted SO good!
I'm also getting a lot more accomplished around the house and spending more quality time with Evelyn doing fun activities, thanks to feeling more energized and less nauseous.
Worst Moment of the Month: Siatica. I never experienced this during Evelyn's pregnancy, and I didn't think it would be something that would start so soon in pregnancy. It's been uncomfortable and kind of inconvenient but has also encouraged me to slow down and spend less time on my feet.
