Baby Jensen Number Two | 24 Weeks

Trimester: Second.
BabySize of an ear of corn [8.5 inches, 1.5 lbs]. Baby is gaining steadily about 6 ounces per week- much of which comes from baby fat, growing organs, bones, and muscle. Ears are getting sharper and he can hear very loud sounds, from a yapping dog to a jackhammer. Hair is beginning to change to the color he will have at birth. Lungs are developing and producing a substance called surfactant that helps in keeping the lungs from collapsing or sticking together during exhalation.
Movement: Yes! He used to be most active at night before bed, but now I can feel him almost constantly throughout the day. It's the best.
Symptoms: Gassy, emotional, raging appetite, sensitive breasts, heartburn, very dry and sensitive skin (could also have to do with living in such a dry climate), and frequent urination now that baby is getting more active and loves to dance around on my bladder.
Cravings: Strawberry lemonade (or any other sugary cold beverage), and anything and everything.
Sleep: Nesting instincts have been in full swing, I've had a lot of energy during the day and have a hard time winding down at night. And I'm I usually have to get up and use the restroom at least once.
Exercise: Daily walks to the park now that the weather has finally cooled down.
Stretch marks: None.
Total weight gain: 13 pounds.
Swelling: None.
Maternity Clothes: Yes. I planned to splurge this pregnancy and treat myself to one pair of maternity jeans... After a two hour trip to the mall I gave up. I'm really particular and like my jeans to be pretty snug. H&M was the only place that sold maternity jeans that came close to fitting me, but even then their selection was slim pickin's and I just didn't love the jeans enough to spend $40. Thankfully with the weather cooling down I'll be able to get away with lots of leggings the rest of this pregnancy.
Belly Button: Out.
Doctor's Visit: The glucose pregnancy test was scheduled for this month's visit and I really wasn't stressing it since things went so well with my glucose test while pregnant with Evelyn. But this time around I had a difficult time. At home not long before Jay, Evelyn, and I left for the appointment I consumed the drink within five minutes as instructed, but it was a challenge and I felt pretty nauseous for about ten minutes afterwards. Our doctor appointments switch off between two locations and this month's appointment was at the Summerlin location. Shortly upon arriving we learned that this location does not have a phlebotomist. Because the test was time-sensitive and my blood needed to be drawn an hour after consuming the glucose drink, I would have to try again another time. They gave us the option to book it over to their other location and have my appointment with a doctor there, but I didn't feel confident enough that we would make it in time. Our appointment and ultrasound (which I wasn't expecting) made up for the inconvenience. Baby boy was very active and it was a thrill to watch him move around in my belly. We even got to watch him open and close his mouth which I had never seen in an ultrasound before! Baby is as healthy as can be and I'm measuring right on track for 24 weeks.
What I'm Looking Forward to: Each new week. Even though I've done this before, I love being able to check my app every Monday and read about all the new things happening inside my body. This pregnancy is for sure going by so much quicker than my first and I love it.
Best Moment of the Month: Thanks to strong nesting instincts, I've been feeling energized enough to accomplish some home/cleaning projects I had been putting off.
Worst Moment of the Month: None.
