Canker Sore

I woke up Tuesday morning with the worst sore throat.
It was bare able through out the day but the next day it was even worse
I thought maybe it was strep which I have never had before. But my only symptom was the sore throat.
The next day the pain was EVEN worse if you can imagine. So I went to the doctor.
Within a second of him examining my mouth he says, "Wow! You have got a canker on your tonsil!"
He then took me over to the mirror and sure enough there it was, a canker sore!
Really? How often does that happen?
He goes on to say how he wished that I had strep because then he could give me antibiotics.
But because cankers are not viral you just have to let it heal on their own.
Doc did offer to "zap" it. Yeah that was kind of out of the question.
I'd rather you not stick your little Popsicle stick/cotton swab down my throat. ( I can't stand cotton, even touching it makes me cringe!)
So he sent me off with some remedies.
After the past three days of ridiculous pain and sleepless nights, I'm kind of wondering if "zapping" it would have been the better choice.

Oh and let me just also mention something I've unfortunately learned...
The nerves in our throats/tonsils are connected to the nerves in our ears.
So not only am I hurting in the throat but also the ear.
Here is a little diagram to give some perspective of where this bloody sucker is and you can only try to imagine how painful.

A canker on your tonsil? I wouldn't wish this on even my worst enemy.
Swallowing, eating, talking, sneezing, burping, yawning, and breathing hurts.
Yesterday I was feeling so helpless and frustrated so I began to sob which HURT.
Which made me sob more. Which HURT!

I'm trying salt water, crushed ice and there is only so much ibuprofen I can take at a time.
I've aleady gotten through about 3 Friends seaons which has eased the pain :).
I watched The Majestic (weird movie) and downed about four smoothies.
Nothing left for me to do but to keep helplessly waiting it out.
