From the Old Phone

I dropped my phone while walking out of Target on Friday.
I picked it up assuming just like all of the other times it has been dropped, it would turn back on.
False.
My phone was broken.
So naturally, I panicked! How does anyone survive without a phone??
Then I remembered that I might have an old spare at home.
I got home, found the spare, turned it on and hooray it worked!

Finding this phone was like finding a piece of treasure- I had almost 200 pictures all from at least 3 years ago.
Here are just a few:

My Junior and Senior year I had the best nanny job ever! These girls and I were best friends.
On nights that I stayed over we would do crazy things like paint our faces and TP-ing cars.
At Chick-Fil-A with Jess I left my retainers on a napkin that got thrown away.
I dug through the trash for a long time, found them, then sanitized them a million times.

Along with all of the pictures, I still had text messages on this phone.
My favorites are from Jay from when we were dating.

-I'm tired :( and I miss your beautiful face :(-
-Its hard to go to sleep when I can't stop thinking about you.-
-Good morning most beautiful girl in the world!-
-I'm so excited to see you tonight!-
-You're my favorite.-
-Man I wish I could be with you right now :)-

Reading those messages brought back so many memories; that constant longing to be with him, counting down the minutes til school was out so I could run over to his apartment and snuggle on the love sack, those good-byes that lasted 10 minutes because we didn't want to say goodnight, waking up to a text that said 'good morning beautiful!'

And getting these cute messages.
I wouldn't go back to dating. Marriage is SO much better and I still get cute messages all the time.
But I am just so grateful for the dating experiences we had.

Saturday morning Jay and I attended the Provo temple.
While in there I found myself thinking about the pictures I found, which led to thinking about so many different memories in just the past 4 years, good and bad.
I then became so incredibly overwhelmed with gratitude for everything I had ever experienced in my life.
I have been so truly blessed and my heart is overflowing with gratitude.
Here's to cherishing old memories, and continuing to make new ones.
