A Welcome From the Police

Everyone around here has warned us of how uptight the police are in Bartlett.
Apparently people have gotten pulled over just for going 1 mile over the speed limit.
Though it sounds a little crazy, it's actually a really great thing that they are this way.
It keeps all of the riff raff out, making Bartlett such a safe little town.

On our way home from dinner on Saturday [June 8th] we heard sirens, then looked
behind us and saw a police car on our tail. Jay hadn't done anything wrong,
so we weren't too worried. Just very confused.

Jay pulled over.
Jay gave the officer his ID.
The officer asked what we were doing in Memphis.
Jay explained that he was doing a summer internship.
The officer asked how long we would be here.
Jay told him we would be here til August.
The officer stared at Jay's ID, then bent over and looked at me.
I smiled and said nervously, "Hello".
The officer gave the ID back and said, "Welcome to the great state of Tennessee!"
And that was that.

We're assuming Tennessee doesn't see a whole lot of Utah license plates and the officer
either thought the car was stolen, or that we moved here and hadn't registered our car yet.

Thanks for the wonderful welcome, officer!
