Our last Sunday in the Bartlett First Ward...
The last time we would teach our sweet 12-14 year olds, probably the last time we would see a lot of people that have been so good to us.
It was a sad day, but I was looking forward to seeing everyone one last time, teaching Sunday school and handing out Rolo Brownies.
As we sat in Sacrament meeting we could hear the roaring thunder every few minutes. I kept thinking about how much I was going to miss that.
It was 40 minutes into the meeting.
Literally seconds after the speaker spoke of "light seeping through on a cloudy day"... the power went out.

It was completely pitch black.
The kids were freaking out. The adults were trying to calm their little ones while laughing.

Then people pulled out their cell phones, giving just enough light to the room.
Bishop Archdeacon told everyone to calm down and do their best to sit reverently while they tried to fix the power.
Just a few minutes later, Bishop announced the cancellation of the rest of our meetings,
then invited everyone to stay and listen to Hymns being played on the piano.

The thought of listening to the piano in the dark actually sounded quite nice.
But it was hard to hear the music over everyone's hyped up voices.
So we said our farewells and headed for the door.

The rain was coming down SO hard.
We tried waiting it out for a few minutes, but Jay eventually decided to make a run for the car.

He picked me up, and then we headed home and had a nice peaceful Sunday.
I wanted a picture of us standing in front of the church building. But because of the storm, I had to settle for these.
The church is true no matter where you go. And there are good people in the church wherever you go.
But we will miss the sweet spirit and people of this ward.
We feel blessed to have taught Sunday school for 6 weeks. It was short, but oh so sweet.
