Mike and Amy were visiting their parent's farm in Jackson and insisted we stop by on our way home from Nashville.
Often Jay and I talk about whether we would enjoy living on a big piece of land away from it all.
We've always concluded that it wouldn't be our preferred lifestyle.
But being at the farm, feeling the fresh air and the total silence... I could certainly see the appeal.
The Eaton's were so gracious to let us in their home, meet their family, explore the farm, and feed us chicken 'n' dumplings.
John (Mike's dad) writes and adds pictures to a journal on his laptop on a daily basis.
He's so passionate about recording the details of his life for his own sake, and for his posterity.
While visiting in the family room John was over at his laptop typing away, then asked me how to spell my name.
We were being added to his journal! I was so flattered.
He also shared a few of his entries with us. To hear the way he talked about life on the farm, and his family was inspiring.

I mentioned something about how they probably get the most amazing sunsets.
John went on to tell me about how he reads his scriptures on the porch every morning and watches the sunrise.
Are you kidding me? It all sounded too good.
Have I mentioned how much I adore Mike and Amy's kids?
Sweet Sydney kept bringing me flowers, and Chloe wanted to hold my hand and get piggy-back rides. Heaven.
Mike, Amy, and Seth took us on a tour of the farm. We saw turkey, deer, rabbits, and a coyote!
John sat on the porch and played his banjo as we drove away.
Honestly it was so sad to leave. I'm a city girl. But I think I need to make friends with some farmers...
