Thirty

On August 29th, Jay's actual birthday, I would be in San Diego and Jay would be on a river rafting trip.
I decided ahead of time [without telling him] that we were going to celebrate on Tuesday, August 27th.

Jay doesn't love big, extravagant birthday celebrations. But he was turning THIRTY- I had to do something special.
So I surprised him throughout the day...

On Monday night [the 26th], I pulled a sneaky by telling Jay that I wasn't tired, and he should just go to bed without me.
Once he was sound asleep, I decorated the apartment.

In the morning, I greeted him with a Birthday card and breakfast in bed.

I bought him a Jazz T-shirt. When he opened it I said, "I thought you might like something to wear to the game!"
Then I explained that we would be going to the Jazz opening game in October.
He was pretty stoked.

Jay was in charge of the day [though, secretly I had most of the day planned].
He wanted to go see Wolverine, so off we went!
After the movie, I directed Jay to park in front of the mall, and then told him to follow me out of the car.
He was confused, and super nervous! Haha, he thought I planned some sort of dance mob or something.
He was quite relieved and excited when we arrived at See's Candies. He picked out his pound of chocolate, then we went home.

Jay decided on Spaghetti Factory for dinner. But once we started driving, I directed him towards the freeway.
Again, he was very confused. I told him to keep driving towards Salt Lake, but I didn't tell him where we were going.
We arrived at Market Street Grill, a fancy seafood restaurant for my seafood-lovin man.
After dinner, we came home and ate his See's chocolate while watching Burn Notice.

I probably acted a little crazy throughout the day, trying to be all sneaky.
But when it comes to this man, I just want to spoil him rotten!
Happy 30th to my Jay!! You're my everything, and I'm so glad to be the one to spoil you on your Birthday.
