Sketch

A couple weeks ago after church, Kim DeOliveira approached me with this sketch of me and Evelyn.

She claimed to be no artist and said, "I just saw the two of you and I was touched as it reminded me of a time when my children were little." I was very touched but also a little caught off guard. Later that day I was kicking myself for not asking her if I could keep it. So I called her up and before I could even ask, she offered to give it to me at church the next Sunday.

Today at church she approached me with a white envelope. I opened it up expecting to see the original sketch. Not only did the envelope include the original sketch, but also this stunning piece of art. I just about cried.

This precious and cherished gift is a reminder to me to continue savoring my little Evelyn, knowing she may not always want to snuggle on the pew at church. I hope it will also serve as a reminder of the fond memories we have attending church as a young family.

The drawing is now framed and hanging in the nursery where I can gaze at it frequently.
