Once we recovered from our traveling setbacks, we were finally able to enjoy some time together before Jay had to fly back out to Michigan for orientation for his new job.
Chon and Kent were delightful hosts and I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get to know them better. It was a tight space but we're grateful to them for taking us in while we waited for the movers to arrive with our belongings.
We made many trips over to our new, empty home. We got the gas, electric, and internet all set up. Since Jay would be in Michigan when the moving truck arrived, he helped me make some decisions on where all of our big furniture should go. And Evelyn just had to try out the bath, which is my favorite feature of the new place.
When we weren't at the new house, we were out doing a lot of good eating at the many beloved food establishments of which we had missed so terribly.
Jay flew to Ann Arbor, Michigan early Sunday morning. Again, I love Chon and Kent and I felt totally comfortable staying there without Jay for a few nights. But our little family had been together pretty much nonstop for the last month and sending Jay off on a plane without Evelyn and I was so heartbreaking. I love my Jay and never get tired of having him around!
Evelyn and I attended our new ward without Jay. Going to church by yourself is never too fun, especially going to church by yourself in a brand new ward. I almost tagged along with the Goodman's to their ward, but decided to step out of my comfort zone. It was such a wonderful experience! Our ward is full of young families with babies Evelyn's age, and everyone was just so incredibly friendly. It felt like home.
Evelyn and I spent a lot of time shopping in preparation for the big move-in day on Wednesday. It was a great way to keep busy and distract from the distance between us and Jay.
Meanwhile Jay was having a pretty great time at orientation. When training new employees, no matter how high their position, Domino's trains them from the bottom up. Jay spent that week learning how to take orders, make, and deliver pizza.
Evelyn and I FaceTimed him every evening and it was so sweet to see her face light up when he came on the screen. Thank goodness for technology.
