Baby Jensen Number Two | Gender Reveal

In the beginning of July as our 12 week appointment and ultrasound for baby was approaching, Jess frequently encouraged me to ask the tech to look for baby's gender. No doubt I was anxious to know, but Jay and I had settled on waiting until the traditional 20 week ultrasound/anatomy scan when I'd be further along and therefore could get a more accurate result on the gender. Plus it would give us something to look forward to.

Jay and I went in for baby's 12 week ultrasound and I toyed with the decision to ask about the gender or not. Simply out of curiosity and not at all anticipating to find anything out, I asked the tech if it was possible to see the gender so early. A few short moments later: "Hmmm let's see... Looks like you're having a boy!" What?? Ok, a boy HOORAY, we're thrilled! But we weren't supposed to find out just yet! I hoped she would give me a "yes" or "no" answer and then give us the option to find out or not. And I sort of hoped to find out in some creative way like we did with the pink confetti with Evelyn. As I was telling Jay all this he pointed out, "Well Rach, you asked!" Ha, he was right and I knew I was running a risk by asking. Aside from all of that, we were so thrilled about this news! Boy or girl- we truly would have been happy either way. But a BOY! Couldn't be happier.

Obviously I was dying to spread the news. Jay convinced me to hold off until further along in the pregnancy once we received confirmation. Looking at that sonogram and studying the pictures when we got home, it was quite clear- all boy. Finally after an ultrasound on Monday at 18 weeks which indicated baby was still a boy, we felt confident enough to share. This was a challenging secret to keep but I'm glad Jay and I held off and had some extra time to bask in our joyful secret.

BOY are we stoked to meet the little man!
