Evelyn, Kella, and I escaped to San Diego while Jay spent a week in Michigan for work. The Parks' were away on vacation the last time I came down, so I stayed with them this time around to get in some much needed quality time with some of my favorite people.
It was the best time, as always! Lots of playing, eating, and staying up way too late. There was also a lot of sweating... Vegas had just started cooling down- it was still hot but it was tolerable and finally we had brisk nights and mornings. When I come to San Diego I usually look forward to comfortable weather, but I forgot to consider it was the time of year where the Santa Ana winds are strong and the air is hot and dry, much like Vegas. I had about reached my limit with the Vegas heat and was pretty bitter about the hot dry air making it's way down to the lovely San Diego. But of course that didn't spoil the trip. Besides freezing cold water, San Diego beaches are absolutely beautiful this time of year.
Emma and her two kiddos, Sophie- 4 and Jack- 15 months, drove from Arizona to spend most of the week with us. The last time Emma and I saw each other there were babes in our bellies, due three months apart. And now we finally reunite as we're at it again less than two years later, this time due with babes (boys!) just three weeks apart. I treasure this girl and her sweet friendship.
Always pointing and chasing after the "dee-dees" (birdies).
Callie 15 months | Evelyn 18 months
These cousins were just a hoot. They're both at such a fun and busy age and it's such a joy to see them interact more and more with each visit. Evelyn was a little bit of a bossy pants at times, probably because she's not used to putting up with four older siblings like Callie is. And even though the girls are interacting with each other more than in the past, it was pretty comical to observe them often playing in the same room but both in their own little toddler worlds.
Towards the end of the visit they really nailed down hugging, and every time they hugged I about cried it was so dang cute!
Double trouble. Busting into a bag of Reese's Peanut Butter chips.
Play hard, sleep hard.
