Another Trip Home

I've lost count of how many trips we've made home this year, let alone just since the summer. After our Thanksgiving visit we weren't even sure if we would be back for Christmas depending on how my pregnancy was going. And then Jay's work organized a retreat in Oceanside, which happens to be right in the middle of both our family's homes. Not only did Evelyn and I get to tag along for the ride but we were able to extend the trip and turn it into a little ten day family vacation, minus the three and half days Jay was in Oceanside.

Straight after a doctor's visit for baby boy on Friday morning we drove to San Diego. After quickly greeting my family, Jay and I went on a long overdue temple date. With the business of our lives lately and all the traveling both together and apart, it was such a treat to escape and spend some one on one time with my groom in the very place where our marriage began.

San Diego Zoo

Evelyn's first trip to the zoo back in July did not seem to leave her impressed. Amazing what a difference it was for her this second time around. She recognized so many of the animals and tried to communicate with them by imitating their noises. Seeing her so taken by it all made it that much more enjoyable for Jay and myself.

Dog Beach

Jay played fetch with Kella for a solid hour and that dog was going strong the entire time. The 50-something degree water was no problem for this pooch.

On Monday Jay left for his retreat in Oceanside where he got to stay in a gorgeous eleven bedroom eleven bathroom beach house, hang out with his work team, and feed the giraffe's and rhino's at the Safari Park.

Meanwhile Evelyn, Kella, and I had a lovely three days with my family.

After reuniting with Jay on Thursday we stopped in Irvine to celebrate grandpa Glenn's birthday along with Mike, Kari, and Marin. After dinner we drove over to Corona where we spent a couple days with Rich and Renee before driving home on Sunday morning.
