On Monday the 13th, we began
our [1,587 miles, 23 hours] journey to Memphis, Tennessee, where we will be
living until mid August.
Jay doesn't start his internship with Kellogg’s til the 23rd but we wanted to give ourselves time
to get there and settle into our place.
On the first day of the trek we drove about 8
hours through the beautiful Rockies of east Utah and Colorado, then on to Limon, Colorado.
Limon is in the middle of nowhere consisting of a couple of hotels, gas stations, IHOP, Denny's, McDonald's, Arby's, and Subway.
We stayed at Quality Inn and though it wasn't super great, it was a good enough place to get some rest.
[Funny how sitting in a car for hours can be SO draining.]

On Tuesday we peaced out of Limon and continued our way down I-70 for another 8 hours through Kansas,
then down to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
then down to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Kansas didn't have a whole lot to offer. Instead of Rocky Mountains with trees, rivers,
and tunnels, it was pretty much a straight shot of flat farmland.
I loved how open it was. It reminded me of looking out to the ocean and seeing a perfectly straight line.
It did get a little old but we kept ourselves entertained with good music and snacks.

Driving into Tulsa, Oklahoma we started seeing more trees which was so refreshing after 600+ miles of nothing but farmland.
Since Tulsa is a bigger city with more hotel options, we splurged and stayed at the Hilton.

We checked in, had a complementary fresh cookie, admired our room and killer view on the 9th floor,
stretched our legs and let the pup get some energy out, went back to our room, ordered some Mexican food,
and enjoyed the rest of the night.

Wednesday morning we waved goodbye to Tulsa then drove 6 hours, making our way through Arkansas,
and into Tennessee.
and into Tennessee.
[We spotted a sign for Kellogg. How appropriate!]
Mouse was a trooper on this trip.
My only complaints are that she refused to sit/sleep anywhere in the car except my lap,
and while staying in the hotels she barked at any and every little noise.

3 days of driving really was not that bad.
We had a great time with each other seeing new places.
We are grateful to have arrived safely and can't wait to explore!

Lovely pictures, Rachel! Glad your trip was a good one! Your best bet for Kansas is doing it in the middle of the night--it makes it much more bearable! :)
So glad you had a fun trip and got there safely! I have to admit, I had a really fun time stalking you on Find my Friends over these 2 days haha!! I'm sure it was just so fun to have a road trip on a road other than I-15! :)
