Our Home in Tennessee

Memphis is the 5th most dangerous city in the U.S.
Knowing this, Jay insisted on getting a nice place that was in a safe area.
Thanks to my sweet man and all his time spent calling and looking up apartments, he found the perfect one.

We are living in a gated apartment complex in a suburb of Memphis called Bartlett.
It's 15 miles away from downtown Memphis, where Jay will be working.

Where I plan to spend most of my days...
Also here...
This place is very pet friendly and very strict about "pet waste". Love it.
Rather than walking down the stairs to get to our basement apartment,
we now walk up two long sets of stairs to get to our apartment.
Lets just say I've realized that despite what I thought, I'm kinda out of shape.

We are renting furniture rather than bringing ALL of our things to Memphis.
Its pretty pricey so we just got a couch, table, bed and dresser.
I'm really loving how open it feels without all of our extra things.
I'm obsessed with our patio.
We are in the back corner of the complex, giving us so much privacy and a gorgeous view.
[That Mouse, always photo-bombing my pictures.]
Having a dishwasher is definitely a luxury.
More luxuries... Having a pantry AND my own laundry room.
Our little office space.
Can't get enough of all this natural light!
I love waking up to these bright green trees right outside our window.
A walk-in closet... Every girl's dream!
I finally have a bath tub!
As I've mentioned several times, I love love LOVE being surrounded by so many trees.
And I'm loving the heat and humidity, I feel like I'm in Hawaii [minus the ocean :(].
However, my allergies kicked into full gear once we got here. It's been a week now and I can say it has gotten better.
But that's with taking meds, nose spray and carrying a pack of tissues everywhere I go.
Another small downside to this place... Roosters.
Those little boogers have been waking us up at 4 every morning.
And there are creeks and ponds everywhere with bugs and frogs and all kinds of random critters.
Some of the critters like to make a lot of really loud sounds at night, when we are trying to go to sleep.
But those are just small things that we will get used to.

So far from what I've seen, I'd say Tennessee is absolutely beautiful.
It is so different from the west.
Last week we made a trip downtown and it was definitely unlike any place I'd ever been to.

Its been so refreshing to get out of the Utah bubble and experience new things with Jay.
We both feel so blessed and grateful for the path that has led us here.
Working with Kellogg's is going to be such an amazing experience for Jay.
And spending my days exercising and laying by the pool will be so soooo good.
We may not ever have a summer like this again and I'm just so excited to embrace it.

Yay! I love all these pictures! Your place is just perfect! Love the patio, the view of the trees, all your natural light, ceiling fans (the best) and your nice kitchen. I am also pretty dang jealous of your pantry and laundry room.. I have been without these for a while now and I miss it! I hope it's starting to feel like home for you guys!
