This San Diego getaway was a special one. It was the last one before I become a momma. Once that happens I have a feeling these getaways won't be happening as often, or at least won't be as easy and care-free. And that is more than ok, but it just gave me more reason to really soak up this precious time with my family.
I flew into town on Friday afternoon, Emma drove in from Mesa, Arizona that evening, Saturday afternoon was the baby shower [previous post], then Sunday morning Emma drove back home. I'm so grateful that she was willing to travel [while 11 weeks pregnant and quite sick] just to spend the weekend with me. On both nights we stayed up way too late chatting, just like the good old days when we roomed together in Provo.
By Sunday afternoon major exhaustion hit. Luckily my family was more than happy to take it easy the next couple of days. We watched Christmas movies, played games, went shopping for baby, did hair, went swimming, ate so much good food [I came prepared with a list of restaurants to dine at and we hit every one on the list!], dove into dad's endless stash of ice cream every night, snuggled with puppies, and just simply had the best time being together.
Of course Jay and I were missing each other terribly throughout the week, but he also knew this would be the last solo trip for a little while and therefore gave me his full support in ditching him for the week.

The nieces kept asking questions about their little cousin. They're so excited to meet her!
Little cousins are due three months apart! Jess and I have always dreamed of having babies together. Now if only we didn't live 2,200 miles away... I'm just glad we got to be together at least once while our babies are still bakin'.
San Diego Temple | December 12th
While planning our traditional trip to the temple it occurred to me that I had never been in the temple with Steph or Luke. So dad, mom, Steph, Luke, and I went and did baptisms. It was a precious experience being in the temple with these family members.
