This was Jay's first Father's Day and I hoped to spend most of the day spoiling him rotten. Instead he spent the day helping me tend to our sweet and needy Evelyn. AND he made an amazing chocolate caramel pastry from scratch. The intent was that we would make the dessert together but because I ended up being so preoccupied with Evelyn, he pretty much did everything. And it was an all day process. I did at least manage to make him a yummy dinner and gave him a collage of photos of him and Evelyn. I definitely still felt indebted to him for all he does for me, even on Father's Day- a day to celebrate him! He assured me it was a great day. And that right there just goes to show what an amazing, selfless, charitable, compassionate, forgiving, and loving human being he is.
Jay is more than an exceptional father. It's such a joy to watch him interact with Evelyn. He loves that girl, there is no doubt about that. I'm so very thankful to have him in my life. And I'm so thankful for my father who set a high standard of what a father should be. Without his love and example I wouldn't have been able to pick out such a good man for a husband and a good father for my children.
