Evelyn | Eighteen Months

-Height: 32 1/2 inches / 73 percentile
-Weight: 23 pounds / 60 percentile
-Wearing size 4 in diapers
-Wearing size 18 months to 2T in clothes. Although she can still squeeze into a few of her 12 month size clothes.
-Sleeps through the night. It's bliss! Every now and then we have a rough night but it's usually due to teething or just not feeling well. When that happens we are usually successful in getting her quickly back to sleep by rocking her. And honestly sometimes I don't mind an excuse to go in and snuggle her in the middle of the night now and then.
-She's usually awake in the mornings between 6:30 and 7:30, then down for a nap between 11:00 and 1:00. I've really enjoyed our days only having to plan around one nap. We've been more flexible and available to go do fun things in the mornings like run errands or meet up with friends at the park. And if there are things I need to get done without Evelyn distracting me or I'm simply in need of down-time, I love knowing I can count on about two hours in the afternoon to have to myself. When Evelyn wakes up for her nap she's always so happy and refreshed. It's a great routine for the both of us!
-Has one 5 ounce bottle of whole milk before nap time, and one 5 ounce bottle of whole milk before bed. Her pediatrician gave me a pretty hard time about this, strongly encouraging me to wean Evelyn off the bottle. But I strongly believe my mommy intuition wins on this one. The bottle is a part of our sleep routine, a routine we've worked hard to get down. It's not really something I feel good about tampering with right now. I feel we still have some time before we need to wean her from the bottle.
-Knows where her eyes, nose, and belly button are. Still working on some of the other body parts.
-When Binky-Bear is out of sight, she holds out her arms with the sweetest look of concern and asks, "beeeeer, wha beeer?" And then when she finds Bear, she runs to it with her arms open wide and the biggest smile on her face.
-Says so many words, I can hardly keep up! Literally every day it's something new. A few recent new words: (obviously she doesn't pronounce all these words perfectly, but she pronounces them well enough and that Jay and I understand) please, Kella, doggie, eyes, all done, more, no, food, hot, outside, and shoes.
-If I catch her doing something she's not suppose to, just by reflex I'll say, "Oh no no no no." She's really picked up on it and now when I catch her in the act of getting into trouble she immediately runs away yelling, "no no no no no!"
-Frequently runs over to the fridge and repeats "foo" (food) until I give her food. She's a bottomless pit lately and it makes me wonder if she really is hungry all the time or if eating has just become a fun activity for her. Either way I love that shes such a good eater. Some of her current favorite foods: frozen Go-Gurts, yogurt, Cheez-It's, Goldfish, fruit squeezies, strawberries, apples, fruit leather and fruit snacks, rice cakes, cooked veggies like carrots, corn, and peas, string cheese, smoothies, quesadillas, pizza, and chicken noodle soup.
-Says "hat" (hot) and blows on her food before eating it, especially when she knows I just pulled it out of the microwave or oven. I don't ever give her food that's necessarily hot, but she's very cautious.
-Has become pretty tech savvy- she can access her shows and my camera roll on my phone.
-Gives the best kisses and hugs upon request.
-Sings along to nursery rhythms. It's amazing how even though she can't pronounce all the words, she's got the tune down.
-Attends nursery at church and loves it.
-Gets excited when I get the vacuum out and loves to "help" me vacuum.
-I always know she's pooping in her diaper when I see her squatting under the kitchen table.
-Loves to pretend to talk on the phone. She'll often walk in circles around the kitchen and family room while she holds the phone up to her ear, probably because I often walk around while on the phone.
-Loves bracelets and beaded necklaces.
-Loves being outside more than just about anything.
-Loves to snuggle and tote her stuffed animals around the house.
-Loves loves loves books. Loves to be read to, and loves to sit on the floor with a pile of books flipping through the pages while jibber jabbering.
-Loves to color. I usually sit down with her and draw letters and shapes. So now when she sits down to color she says, "so-koul" (cirlce) over and over either as she's coloring or as she's forcing a crayon in my hand and requesting that I draw shapes.
-Loves to share her snacks with Kella. It's cute but also can be frustrating to try and separate them when Evelyn is eating and trying to feed something to Kella that could make her sick.
-Loves to harass Kella by chasing her with the doll stroller.
-Loves to play with daddy. He tosses her in the air, rolls around on the bed with her, chases her throughout the house, tickles her til she can hardly breathe, reads her stories, and snuggles her with her bottle before bed.
