Baby Jensen Number Two | 32 Weeks

Trimester: Third.
BabySize of a head of lettuce [19 inches, 3.9 lbs.]. In these last few weeks, it's all about practice, practice, practice as he hones the skills he'll need to thrive outside the womb -- from swallowing and breathing to kicking and sucking. He's busy looking around, practicing breathing, grabbing whatever is in reach, tasting amniotic fluid and listening to the sound of our voices. The fetal position is becoming a familiar position for baby.
Movement: Lots of frequent and strong movement. Either this baby is more active than Evelyn was, or I've simply forgotten how crazy the sensation is.
Symptoms: Horrible heartburn, gassy, constipated, emotional, very frequent urination, braxton hicks contractions, and strong appetite but a little more particular about food.
Cravings: Nothing in particular.
Sleep: Not so great. I often wake up in the middle of the night with horrible heartburn which keeps me up for awhile until medicine kicks in. I can't always predict which foods trigger the heartburn, but if I've eaten something that I'm confident will not settle well I'm sure to take medicine before bed.
Exercise: Not so much. Although tending to a toddler keeps me literally on my feet most of the day.
Stretch marks: None.
Total weight gain: 23 pounds.
Swelling: My wedding has become a bit snug, but I can still take it off if needed. So I don't know how much of that is really swelling or just due to weight gain.
Maternity Clothes: Yes. I'm pretty fortunate that I can still fit into a few of my non-maternity pants (with the help of some extra elastic) but my wardrobe is becoming more limited by the day.
Belly Button: Out.
Doctor's Visit: Nothing exciting to report, which I consider a good thing. As far as we know baby boy is healthy and growing at a normal rate.
What I'm Looking Forward to: Each new week. It's pretty surreal to already be in the last trimester of this pregnancy. I'm trying to just keep enjoying the ride of pregnancy but I'm also starting to feel a little bit antsy to meet this little guy. I find myself frequently daydreaming about holding him, smooching him, and basking in that newborn goodness.
Best Moment of the Month: Thanksgiving dinner. Ha! But really, I don't recall ever enjoying a meal quite like I did on Thanksgiving. I'm grateful to have such a strong appetite.
Worst Moment of the Month: The day after returning from California I got sick with either a nasty stomach bug or food poisoning. Whatever it was, it was violent and horrible. Throwing up is never fun but it turns out violently throwing up while in your third trimester of pregnancy is pretty horrific. All of baby boy's movements combined with stomach pains and nausea just made me more nauseous. I'm not sure how it all works but I couldn't help but wonder and worry he was moving around so much because he was also uncomfortable or didn't feel well. This sickness was gone within 24 hours. Overall it was not a pleasant experience and I'd be ok if I never threw up again in my entire life. But Jay was an incredible nurse and so heroic the way he took over with Evelyn.
